Nature Spirits

Religions

The Nature Spirits are personifications of the natural world, often manifesting beast-like forms. Though the Nature Spirits are typically seen as peaceful, this is far from the case. One would be wise not to provoke the wrath of one of these beings, lest they perish a most grisly death. The spirits are occasionally worshipped by mortals, though their followers are few and far between.

There are an immense number of nature spirits throughout the many planes. Though the nature spirits are worshipped collectively, some prominent spirits are seen as figureheads for worship. The nature spirits are often seen as archaic religious beings, once worshipped by many mortals though now a mere fraction of their original power.

During the divine war, the forces of law and chaos were preoccupied fighting eachother, briefly turning their attention away from the mortal planes. Sensing an opportunity, Beithíoch, the impromptu ruler of the Nature Spirits attempted to reclaim the mortal planes by destroying civilization and sending the realms back to a state of primal savagery. Beithíoch was ultimately unsuccessful and was banished to Bestia for his actions. The banishment of such a prominent force upset the natural order of the multiverse and the lines separating mortals and beasts began to blur. Some mortals began to take on the characteristics of animals, gradually transforming into the cursed.
