Halflings are small friendly mortal folk, similar in appearance to humans. Halflings are well known for being kind and inviting, often allowing strangers into their homes and serving them dinner. Halflings have large, hairy feet and usually don’t wear shoes, even when traveling. Some scholars believe that halflings possess a mixture of human and fae ancestry, which would explain their pointed ears, large feet, long lives and supposed supernatural luck.
Description
Halflings are a small folk, standing at abount half the size of the average human. Male halflings are typically slightly taller than females, though both weigh roughly the same on average.
Halfling skin tones can range from pale beige to dark brown, typically based on environment. Halfling hair is always curly brown or black and cannot be straightened. Halfling eyes are either brown or hazel, a halfling with another natural eye colour has never been recored.
Halflings grow an incredible amount of hair on their large feet. Their leather-like soles allow them to walk across rough terrain without footwear. Shoes, boots and any other variety of footwear is intensely uncomfortable for a halfling to wear, though some halflings wear footwear for protective reasons.
Personality
Halflings are known to be extremely kind-hearted. Their natural kindess and short size has often caused halflings to suffer poor treatment by many of the other folk. Most human nations are on friendly terms with halflings and the two folk are typically pleasant to one another. A genuinely upset halfling is a rare sight, an angry halfling even more so. Many halflings have an intense desire to see the world, despite the danger they may face on the journey.
