Rebuilding
Once the Divine War was officially over, creatures from across the planes began to slowly rebuild much of what had been lost during the fighting. Unfortunately, this was not always possible. The continent of Oblitus was left in such a miserable state that many of its inhabitants decided to sail east, hoping to settle on the continent of Owish. Great fleets of ships carried hundreds of thousands across the ocean, each passenger hoping for a fresh start. Some of the humans and many of the dwarves decided to stay on the tainted continent, though time would take its toll on these poor individuals. The chaotic energy proved too much for the Oblitans who gradually transformed into partially-undead creatures. The dwarves were also unlucky, as chaos had infected the ground itself mutating them into the Lost Dwarves.
The Elemental Lords pitied their human followers, allowing them to migrate to the Elemental Planes where they were promised safety. Over time, these humans began to manifest physical traits similar to those seen in elementals and became the first giants. The absence of many Nature Spirits had a similar effect on the humans still living in the Mortal Realms. With weakened forces separating mankind and beasts, the two gradually began to merge. A small number of babies born at this time possessed beast-like features. These features became more prominent with each generation. Before long, many previously human families had been completely transformed into the cursed.
Before long, things became somewhat normal once more, with creatures from across the planes mostly returning to their previous ways of life. Though initially hostile, the Roimh people of Owish gradually accepted the Oblitan settlers, with many families from both cultures intermarrying. These two ethnic groups partially merged, resulting in the birth of the Owisians.
As Deities were no longer allowed to leave their home planes while in their true forms, the number of humans granted enough divine essence to cast divine magic grew exponentially. Various religions dedicated to worship of the Golden Pantheon appeared across the continents, typically led by high level clerics or other divine spell casters. Cults were common at this time, with many seeing their interpretations of the pantheon’s will as gospel. Religions and cults devoted to the worship of the Traitor’s Doctrine were uncommon, though they still managed to rear their ugly heads from time to time. Some enterprising fringe deities even managed to start their own religions, though these groups have mostly disbanded over time.
