Arcane Magic draws energy from deep within the mind of a spellcaster, allowing them to channel their cognitive thoughts into tangible manifestations. Arcane magic is deeply volatile in nature, creating unnatural ripples in both time and space. If too much arcane energy is focused into one spot all at once, the very fabric of reality may tear momentarily, usually causing chaotic incursions. Lawful and neutral beings can wield arcane magic, though they must be careful not to break reality in the process. While arcane magic can be learned through study, it is sometimes granted to mortals through pacts made with powerful creatures or deities, especially those of chaos.
Some fae creatures are fond of arcane magic, devoting much of their time to learning new spells. These creatures are not particularly bothered with the cosmic battle between law and chaos, though understand a chaotic invasion would be disastrous to planar stability. For this reason, most fae are committed to ensuring they do not exceed their arcane limits.
Arcane magic is shunned or even outlawed in most societies for the danger it has the potential to bring. Many practitioners of arcane magic retreat to secluded locales so that they may continue their dangerous studies without interruption. Wizard towers are a prime example of this, allowing a magic-user enough space to live comfortably while protecting them from outside threats.
