After infiltrating a cult lair deep in the sewers of Black Hollow, the party returns to Ravenvale Manor and reunites Lysander Ravenvale with his formerly kidnapped son, Ike Ravenvale. Thrunk receives silver coins and a letter to be exchanged for a suit of custom-fitted plate armour. Boone receives coins like Thrunk, though he is granted a letter promising him the title of knight. Raz receives a letter granting him the legal right to kill any “cultists” within the town. The mayor was not familiar with Guy, Monterey or Clyde, granting them each a smaller (though still sizable) reward. The group enjoys their Barley muffins as Boone remembers his home far away.
Boone, Thrunk and Guy travel to the Demon Hunter’s Guild. Raz journeys to Soulwatch Cathedral and the group’s strange accomplices Monterey and Clyde head for The Loose Wheel. At the guildhall, the group encounters Ivo Steelspine who is currently conversing with several guards. The group informs him of their journey into the sewers. Ivo is grateful and rewards the party with silver coins. He warns of potential danger unleashed under the town and asks the group to remain vigilant. Raz assists the cathedral clergy with their holy ceremonies, taking time to sneak off and examine the cadavers (supposedly those murdered by the cult). Boone decides to open the strange pouch he found in the cult base, finding it full of fingers.
The group reunites in the street, where they find a peasant man being questioned by the guards. The peasant claims to be a devout follower of Messis, Goddess of Harvest. The man says he has travelled north from the village of Enlem, looking to purchase a horse. Boone trusts the man instantly, Guy is unsure while both Thrunk and Raz are immediately suspicious. The guardsmen ultimately decide to let the man go, where he travels to the stables, tailed by the group. Boone finds an Axe Beak at the stables, he pays the stable worker twenty silver coins to hold the great creature for when he can afford to purchase it.
Afterwards, the group heads to Soulwatch Cathedral as the moon rises. Boone and Raz help with the ceremonies in exchange for a safe place to sleep. Thrunk examines the tombstones surrounding the cathedral, before heading to The Loose Wheel pub. Thrunk is ambushed by three cultists, out for blood. Thrunk battles the cultists and is nearly defeated, though his martial prowess and skills with a handaxe allow him to emerge victorious. Following in Thrunk’s footsteps, Guy decides to journey to The Loose Wheel. Similarly, he is ambushed by two cultists in the street. The cultists are nasty. Although after Guy slays one, the other is easily scared off. The fleeing cultist locks eyes with Guy, stating he will remember his face.
At the pub, Thrunk and Guy drink some squash wine (Thrunk has three mugs full) while the bartender pleads with them, asking them not to kill anyone else. In the morning, Boone and Raz cannot find their companions. They search the Demon Hunter’s Guild before heading to The Loose Wheel, where they find Thrunk day drinking under Guy’s watch.
The group decides to go shopping, when they discover a small general store called Bluerock Shoppe. The owner of the store is extremely grumpy, though Boone decides to buy some rope for two silver coins. Afterwards, the group finds a bakery. They decide it would be wise to stock up on rations for future expeditions into the wilderness. Afterwards, they make their way to Goldenvale Brewery. Thrunk wishes to purchase a barrel of mead, though he lacks the funds. Raz purchases a bottle of mead, poisoning it with green mushrooms harvested from Snagglecrag Ravine. After poisoning the bottle, Raz discovers a couple of thieves cant symbols, promising a nearby safehouse. Following the symbols leads him to the attic of the brewery, supposedly never checked by the patrons or staff.
On their way out, the group encounters four armoured individuals wearing green cloaks and donning emblems of a dragon’s head in profile. One of the individuals salutes Thrunk, who had previously painted a green ring onto his shield. Thrunk decides to salute back, feigning his allegiance to the military group, assisted by Boone. The soldiers urge the group to head to The Forgotten City, else The Green One will get angry. The warriors load four barrels of mead into their wagon before travelling east.
Dusk falls and the group attempts to ambush the remaining cultists outside The Loose Wheel. Despite Boone’s efforts to keep Thrunk away from alcohol, the dwarf manages to sneak off and guzzle several mugs of squash wine at the bar. Thrunk stumbles outside, acting as live bait for the cultists, who soon attack. Boone, Thrunk and Guy engage the cult in brutal melee combat, while Raz shoots them from behind a nearby building. The group makes short work of the cultists, but before they can celebrate their victory, Thrunk finds a strange note on one of the bodies. Thrunk decides to read the note aloud: We are wounded from the battle, come to 87 Eel Crescent.
