Elemental War
Long before the planes first came to be, a nebula of primordial chaos drifted through the void of space. The nebula contained the four prime elements of earth, water, air and fire in addition to fused elements such as ice and mud. The nebula drifted for an untold amount of time, constantly shifting and changing as it made its way through space. The churning elements began to clash as elementals rose from the chaos. The elementals were furious, incapable of seeing reason and soon began to fight among themselves. The battles were quick but brutal, often ending just as fast as they had began. It was truly a time of needless war.
A group of gods both good and evil came drifting through the cosmos, their motives unknown even to this day. Upon spotting the nebula, the gods decided to stop and rest. Before long, each element had petitioned the gods, hoping to gain their support in the war. Sensing an opportunity to end the fighting, the gods brokered a deal with the elementals. The chaos was to be divided into separate realms, one for each prime element. In addition, the gods would create realms of their own, constructed from a mixture of both prime and fused elements. The gods of good created the realm of Paradisus which was infused with light, while those of evil constructed the realm of Agonia, forged of darkness. The god Sol created The Sun to shed bright light on the planes for half of each day, while the goddess Luna created The Moon to shine through the darkness of night. Both of these creations were shunned by the evil gods of Agonia, who blotted out the sky of their realm with ash.
Creation of Life
Peace reigned for a time, as the elementals retreated to their respective planes. However, even in this stabilized state, the elements continued to leak together. Over time, the mixing elements formed a myriad of new worlds untouched by the divines. The benevolent gods saw great potential in these new worlds, while those of malevolence only saw chaos that needed to be purged. The gods came to a compromise, populating many of the new realms with creatures of their own creation in an attempt to stabilize the chaos. The population attempt was a huge success, as creatures soon began to rise from the fertile land. Unfortunately, attempts to impact certain realms were resisted, as if by some force populating the land itself. Supposedly, this is when the fae were fist discovered by the gods. As the gods could not impact the fae realms, they decided to count their losses and move on.
Life developed quickly in this time, with new innovations made rapidly over the following years. Humans began to worship the Nature Spirits they were surrounded by, as well as both the Elemental Lords and the Fae Lords. Furious, some of the malevolent gods demanded worship from their creations, violently striking the humans with their divine wrath. Outraged, gods of good taught their followers how to heal the sick and banish the darkness so that they may resist the evil gods. Tension began to grow between the gods, as the sides of good and evil partially withdrew to their own planes, leaving the mortals undisturbed for a time.
