Yggdrasil, also known as “The World Tree” is a colossal spectral tree forged from stabilized arcane magic. The tree connects the various realms with its mighty branches, allowing for easy travel between the planes if you know how to harness the tree’s power. The secondary and arguably more important purpose of the tree is to shield the planes from the Abyssal Expanse. The mighty tree covers the abyss with its many dense roots, blocking demonic access to the planes and preventing a second divine war.
Description
Yggdrasil appears as a massive green-tinted spectral tree suspended among the cosmos, visible in the night sky of most planes. As the tree is forged of arcane magic, it is not a physical object that can be touched. Rather, the magic of the tree serves as both a ward and a pathway depending on who tries to interact with it.
Inhabitants
Yggdrasil connects every plane with the exception of those that fall within the Abyssal Expanse. Despite this, Yggdrasil itself does not have any permanent residents though the space surrounding the tree is occupied by a number of cosmic beings.

History
Creation of Yggrasil (First Age)
When the Fae Lords desired a way to connect the isolated Fae Realms they reached out with their magic, creating Yggdrasil. The tree was a mere fraction of its current size at this time, only connecting the Fae Realms and ignoring all other planes. The tree allowed for the rapid advancement of fae on the cosmic scale, cementing their place as one of the great cosmic powers.
Expansion of Yggdrasil (Second Age)
Following the divine war, greater planar stability was required if the cosmic forces were to survive the continued demonic assault. Sensing an opportunity, the fae offered to expand Yggdrasil in exchange for continued peace between the cosmic powers. This deal was quickly accepted, resulting in the rapid expansion of the tree. Channeling the energy of the planes, Yggdrasil’s roots grew overtop the Abyssal Expanse, blocking the demonic hordes from marching upon the worlds above.
